Senior Quantity Surveyor – NEC3 Change Leader, Major Infra

Job summary

Carmichael UK is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major contractor delivering a substantial package of works at Hinkley Point C. The role will be based from the Bridgwater project office with occasional site travel.

You will manage commercial activities across major packages under NEC3 Option C, focusing on change management, cost control and detailed financial reporting, while mentoring two junior surveyors and collaborating with delivery,

Qualifications

• Quantity Surveying qualification or similar.
• Strong NEC contract experience, ideally NEC3 Option C.
• Excellent change management experience on complex construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong financial reporting, forecasting and commercial management capability.
• Previous experience working for a Tier 1 or large principal contractor.
• Major project or complex construction experience.
• JV experience would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior commercial staff.
• A stable employment/contract history demonstrating longevity on projects.
• A contractor-side background rather than predominantly client-side or consultancy experience.
• Eligibility to obtain BPSS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Managing commercial activities across major concrete, building envelope and associated construction packages.
• Taking ownership of NEC3 Option C change management.
• Managing and maintaining a high volume of compensation events and commercial change.
• Producing accurate and detailed financial reporting, forecasting and cost control.
• Supporting the wider commercial team and mentoring two Junior Quantity Surveyors.
• Working closely with project delivery, engineering and commercial stakeholders.
• Managing subcontractor commercial matters and maintaining strong commercial governance throughout delivery.
• Supporting the project through to completion while protecting the contractor's commercial position.
