Job summary

O’Neill and Brennan in Exeter seeks a skilled Quantity Surveyor (project or senior level) to join its commercial team. You will oversee financial and contractual management of multimillion-pound projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and to high standards.

The role requires experience in health/education sectors, knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts, and strong negotiation and analytical skills. Driving licence and potential RICS qualification are desirable.

Qualifications

• Ideally a degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, or currently studying toward it.
• Experience in health and education sectors of commercial delivery.
• Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Proficient with cost management software.
• Independent worker who also collaborates well in a team.
• Full UK driving licence held.
• RICS qualification or progress toward it is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans and cash flow forecasts.
• Conduct cost analysis and financial risk assessments.
• Administer contracts (JCT/NEC) and ensure compliance.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers for cost efficiency.
• Prepare interim valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Collaborate with project teams to monitor progress and resolve commercial issues.
• Deliver accurate cost reporting and forecasting to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
