Job summary

PSR Solutions seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor for a privately owned main contractor in Leicestershire, delivering healthcare, commercial and education schemes. Projects range from £50,000 to £6.5 million across Design & Build and pre-designed arrangements.

The role covers commercial delivery from inception to completion, overseeing procurement, cost management and reporting, with travel nationwide and opportunities for long-term career development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience working for a Main Contractor at Project QS level.
• Strong experience delivering refurbishment and new-build projects.
• Experience working within a traditional main contracting environment.
• Competent knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
• Strong M&E knowledge above the typical level expected of a Quantity Surveyor.
• Thorough understanding of commercial financial reporting processes.
• Strong time management, negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
• Willingness to travel nationwide, including occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial performance of multiple projects from inception to completion.
• Lead subcontractor and supplier procurement, including re-tendering and negotiations.
• Monitor labour and material expenditure against approved budgets.
• Prepare monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports.
• Prepare and submit monthly client valuations, maximising cash flow.
• Review, assess and certify subcontractor payment applications.
• Maintain positive project cash flow and monitor commercial performance.
• Negotiate and agree client and subcontractor final accounts.
• Identify and manage commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and agree extension of time, loss and expense claims.
• Manage variations and change control processes.
• Complete commercial administration and reporting requirements.
