Job summary

Modus is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Senior Cost Consultant to join the team in Faversham. You will lead a varied portfolio across healthcare, education, local government and the public sector, guiding projects from feasibility through procurement, construction and final account.

We value autonomy, direct client access, and the chance to mentor less-experienced surveyors while delivering high-quality cost consultancy and broader services.

Qualifications

• A degree in Quantity Surveying or another relevant RICS-accredited discipline.
• Strong client-side Quantity Surveying / Cost Consultancy experience.
• Experience independently managing projects and client relationships.
• Strong pre- and post-contract cost management capability.
• Good knowledge of procurement and construction contracts.
• The confidence to advise clients, challenge where necessary and take responsibility for your professional advice.
• Experience supporting, mentoring or managing less-experienced surveyors.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple commissions from feasibility and early-stage cost planning through procurement, construction and final account.
• Act as the client's principal day-to-day contact and trusted commercial adviser.
• Prepare, manage and present estimates, elemental cost plans and other cost advice.
• Lead procurement and tendering processes, including preparation of tender documentation, tender analysis, negotiation and contract formation.
• Prepare and present financial and cost reports to clients and project stakeholders.
• Manage valuations, variations, change control, loss and expense and final accounts.
• Advise clients and design teams on cost, value, procurement, contractual matters and project risk.
• Proactively identify project issues and provide clear, practical advice on solutions.
• Undertake Contract Administrator and/or Employer's Agent roles where appropriate.
• Lead client, design-team and contractor meetings.
• Review work produced by others and support the development of junior members of the Modus team.
