Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Energy team supporting the GGP (ATNC) Norwich to Tilbury, based out of Holton-St-Mary, Colchester CO7 6NW. You will lead commercial activities across the project lifecycle, focusing on NEC contracts and standard methods of measurement.

The role requires a strong civil and rail background, progression towards RICS/ICES chartership, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying (or equivalent qualification).
• Strong civil and/or rail background (essential), ideally rail.
• Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
• Excellent knowledge of NEC contracts and Standard Methods of Measurement.
• Strong communication, negotiation and persuasion skills.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Encourage a culture of commercial awareness within the team.
• Ensure site team adheres to group procedures and governance.
• Prepare internal commercial reports and other required reports.
• Devising valuations/applications for payment with full documentation.
• Construct cost reports to the client with supporting documentation.
• Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts and payments.
• Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Contract administration including change management and registers.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Use cost allocation/coding to satisfy internal and external requirements.
• Measure quantities per standard methods of measurement.
• Engage with client and develop entry-level staff.
