Job summary

Apple Technical Recruitment (UK) is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a permanent role in the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire region. Projects include Defence sector work with values from £2m to £10m and a pipeline of larger opportunities beyond £50m.

The role involves end-to-end procurement, budget management, and risk assessment, with a mix of office and site-based work. Strong negotiation and contractor management are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience negotiating subcontractors and terms.
• Strong ability to manage budgets and costs across design and construction phases.
• Proven track record in procurement and cost-saving opportunities.
• Familiarity with defence/project-specific compliance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end supply chain procurement, define scope and select subcontractors.
• Manage project budgets through design and construction, respecting client constraints.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative methods without compromising quality.
• Quantify and manage commercial risks in defence and sensitive site environments.
• Coordinate with design teams to manage subcontractor fees and liabilities.
• Oversee day-to-day commercial management including measurements and payments.
• Administer subcontract orders through to final account.
