Job summary

My client in Glasgow seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their head office. The role targets individuals with four or more years post-graduate experience, ideally from a UK PQS firm, able to handle pre- and post-contract work and cost management across a portfolio of projects valued up to about £120m.

Applicants should hold a UK Quantity Surveying degree (BSc or similar) and may already be MRICS or be aiming to become chartered with APC support offered.

Qualifications

• 4+ years post-graduate experience in pre and post-contract QS work.
• UK-recognised QS qualification (BSc or equivalent).
• Experience with PQS firms in the UK.
• APC support or eligibility for RICS chartership.
• Knowledge of JCT contracts; NEC knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage pre- and post-contract quantities and cost plans.
• Deliver cost management across residential, leisure, industrial, offices, and education projects.
• Prepare valuations, procurement, and financial reporting for clients and consultants.
• Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders at all levels.

THE ROLE

My client seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager to join them in Glasgow. This office is the Head Office and this role has arisen due to retirement.

They are seeking someone either at Senior level with four years + experience ideally gained working for a firm of PQS.

My client works on a good range of projects for residential, leisure facilities, industrial warehousing, offices, schools and more.

THE COMPANY

My client is an established firm of PQS with two offices currently.

They work on a good range of projects up to around £120m in value.

THE CANDIDATE

You will be a Senior Quantity Surveyor who is currently working for a UK firm of PQS.

My client would like someone who has at least four years or more post graduate experience doing pre and post contract work.

You will need to have a recognised UK qualification in Quantity Surveying i.e. BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar and have around 2 plus years experience working for a PQS firm either post graduation or during your Degree if you were doing your BSc on day release.

You may already be Chartered with the RICS or be keen to become chartered and my client will support this.

You should have used JCT contracts and any knowledge of NEC contracts would be useful.

You should have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken to deal with people at all levels.

Salary is very negotiable plus benefits including pension, APC support if required, RICS fees, discretionary bonus, hybrid working one day per week, 26 days holiday plus public holidays, access to buy VIP tickets for the Hydro, Parking permit provided.
