About the job.

We are expanding our commercial management team to support National Highways' annual £1bn investment programme for maintaining the Strategic Road Network. We have exciting opportunities for Senior Quantity Surveyors to join our team.

You will lead a team of Quantity Surveyors and be responsible for end-to-end commercial and contract management of a complex programme of schemes, each valued from £1m to over £30m. This diversity offers opportunities to enhance leadership, stakeholder management, and commercial skills in a complex delivery environment.

The role is primarily based in our offices in Bedford, Basingstoke, Guildford, Maidstone, Bristol, or Exeter. We offer flexible hybrid working, combining office and home work, with a general expectation of at least 2 days per week in the office.

• Lead on commercial and contract management of all schemes, ensuring compliance with contracts and timely responses to contractual matters.
• Manage and mentor the team, supporting professional development and qualifications (e.g., MRICS).
• Oversee supply chain management, including enquiry documentation, quotation assessment, and works instructions.
• Ensure accurate scheme cost and value reconciliation, assist in preparing forecasts and risk profiles.
• Manage site-level change processes, including Early Warning and Compensation Events, and produce necessary documentation for clients and supply chain.

About you.

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or relevant technical qualification, with professional status (e.g., MRICS, MCInstCES).
• Experience in contract administration, ideally with NEC contracts, in a portfolio or programme setting.
• Proven experience in Quantity Surveying/Commercial roles within civil engineering/infrastructure environments, providing expert advice on complex commercial issues.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, prioritize, and collaborate effectively.
• Line management and mentoring experience.
