Job summary

VVB ENGINEERING (UK) LIMITED is seeking a Quantity/ Senior Quantity Surveyor in London to support the commercial team. You will help ensure projects stay within budget, manage variations, and maximise profit through robust cost control and accurate forecasting.

You will build strong client/supplier relationships, prepare regular financial reports, and lead valuations for payments. A Level (or equivalent) is required, with a degree in Quantity Surveying preferred and formal credentials such as

Qualifications

• Demonstrable use and understanding of standard forms of contract.
• Adept knowledge of MS packages incl. Excel, Project and Word.
• A working understanding of valuation techniques of construction works including elemental cost analysis.
• Ability to use programme analysis and measurement of Earned Value.
• Able to use accounting concepts and forecasting cost and value based on programme and scope of works.
• Understands and uses tools for management of project and business costs including cost-saving techniques.

Responsibilities

• Work with and support the Project Manager on a daily basis to ensure projects meet commercial/financial targets.
• Build strong relationships with client and supplier counterparts.
• Contribute to regular reporting for PHR/CVR/Cash Flow/Weekly Updates to Commercial Manager.
• Accountable for project budget and regular commercial forecasts.
• Carry out valuations for initial, interim and final payment applications.
• Manage project sub-contractor and supplier accounts per subcontracts and upstream requirements.
• Identify, notify, value and agree change (variations, compensation events, claims).
• Work with Commercial Manager to maximise recovery of contractual entitlements.
• Ensure works are managed per contract terms and notice periods.
• Maintain contemporary records for claims, extensions of time, and variation evaluation.
• Support tender processes as required.
• Promote and maintain professional working relationships.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
