Job summary

JobMatcha Ltd is currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major civil engineering project in Bristol. You will take commercial responsibility, manage budgets, costs, cash flow and valuations, and work closely with project teams to deliver on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate has proven experience in civil engineering, strong contractual knowledge and NEC experience would be advantageous. This is a contract/freelance opportunity offering a competitive daily rate.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering.
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
• Experience with valuations, variations, final accounts and cost reporting.
• NEC contracts experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the commercial management of civil engineering projects.
• Manage project costs, budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
• Prepare and manage applications for payment, valuations and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, payments and variations.
• Review and assess changes, variations and compensation events.
• Monitor project performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.

Senior Quantity Surveyor Civil Engineering

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a civil engineering project in Bristol.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor with strong civil engineering experience to take responsibility for the commercial management of projects, working closely with the project delivery and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the commercial management of civil engineering projects.
• Manage project costs, budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
• Prepare and manage applications for payment, valuations and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, payments and variations.
• Review and assess changes, variations and compensation events.
• Monitor project performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Prepare accurate monthly cost/value reports and forecasts.
• Assist with procurement and subcontractor negotiations.
• Manage contractual and commercial correspondence.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, clients and subcontractors.
• Provide commercial advice to the project team.
• Ensure contractual obligations and commercial procedures are followed.
• Support the successful delivery of projects within budget and programme.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering.
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
• Experience managing civil engineering projects and subcontract packages.
• Experience with valuations, variations, final accounts and cost reporting.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness.
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• A relevant Quantity Surveying or construction-related qualification is desirable.
• Experience with NEC contracts would be advantageous.
