Job summary

DeverellSmith Group in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Associate Director to lead its cost management team and own projects across a diverse property portfolio. You will shape the regional team, build long-term client relationships and drive high-quality commercial outcomes.

You’ll lead commissions from feasibility through to final account, mentor junior surveyors and influence business development.

Qualifications

• Significant post-qualification experience in consultancy cost management or quantity surveying.
• MRICS or working towards it for senior level.
• Proven track record in leading projects and managing client relationships.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to advise at senior level.
• Experience in leading and developing people.
• Proactive in winning work and growing regional presence.

Responsibilities

• Leading cost management and quantity surveying services on a range of projects, taking full responsibility for delivery, quality and commercial outcomes.
• Acting as the trusted adviser to clients, building lasting relationships and identifying opportunities for repeat and new work.
• Preparing and presenting cost plans, feasibility studies, procurement advice and cost reports, giving clear, confident recommendations that drive client decisions.
• Overseeing project financial control, spotting risks early and making sure clients and the business always have accurate, up-to-date information.
• Contributing to the regional team’s income and growth targets, including bids, fee proposals and business development.
• Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level surveyors, setting the standard for quality and professionalism.
• Helping shape team processes and making sure best practice is applied consistently across projects.

Our award winning client is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Associate Director to take a leading role in their Birmingham cost management team. This is a chance to own your projects, shape the direction of a growing regional team, and build long-term client relationships across a diverse portfolio of construction work.

You’ll have the autonomy to lead commissions from feasibility through to final account, the influence to shape how the team grows, and a clear path towards director level for the right person.
