Location

Rickmansworth, Hampton or Walthamstow with hybrid working available.

Salary

£59k – 70k (negotiable). Car allowance and excellent benefits package.

Company

Our client is an integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector. They have over 1,000 staff working across eight regional centres, primarily supporting six long‑term water sector frameworks operated on their own and increasingly in joint ventures and alliances.

Role

You will report directly to the Managing QS and be responsible for the commercial management of projects.

Responsibilities
  • Quantity surveying duties in respect of managing projects and work packages.
  • Liaise with design, construction and supply chain teams to capture, analyse and control cost.
  • Collaboratively work with the client to ensure business requirements are met.
  • Manage the main contract ensuring contractual notices and correspondence are identified and raised as necessary.
  • Preparation and issue of subcontract documentation.
  • Assist in the management and performance of subcontractors.
  • Manage the preparation and agreement of applications for payment.
  • Prepare project cost & value reports, budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist in the management and development of junior commercial staff.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through external networking, conferences, associations/groups to stay current on industry changes and innovations.
  • Maintain a positive and solution‑oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Comprehensive commercial experience, preferably with a contracting organisation.
  • Experience on infrastructure projects.
  • BSc or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent construction‑related subject.
  • Working towards or hold chartered membership of a recognised institution.
  • Experience with standard forms of contract such as NEC and IChemE.
  • Claim management.
