Job summary

Acorn Recruitment is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading design and build provider for UK Water Sector projects. Hybrid working is offered and responsibilities include commercial leadership, cost control, and client relationship management across multi-disciplinary teams.

The role requires a degree or equivalent, experience of large projects (>£5m), NEC3/IChemE familiarity, and a track record of managing a small team. Chartered progression is desirable.

• Experience managing projects in excess of £5m.
• Procurement of large value packages.
• Experience in utilities/civil engineering/MEICA sectors.
• NEC3 or IChemE experience.
• Experience managing and developing a small team.
• Working towards or chartered membership of a recognised institution.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial and quantity surveying activities across projects and work packages.
• Work closely with design, construction, and supply chain teams to monitor and control project costs.
• Build strong client relationships to ensure business and project objectives are achieved.
• Administer the main contract, managing contractual notices and correspondence as required.
• Prepare and issue subcontract documentation and support subcontractor management.
• Lead the preparation and agreement of applications for payment.
• Produce cost reports, value reports, budgets, and forecasts to support project performance.
• Support the development and mentoring of junior commercial team members.
• Maintain professional development through industry networking, associations, and events.
• Promote a positive, solutions-focused approach and provide open, constructive feedback.
• Carry out additional duties and training requirements appropriate to the role.
• Represent the business professionally, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times.
