Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading integrated design and build provider within the UK Water Sector. The role is based in South West Hertfordshire with hybrid working and a permanent, Monday-Friday schedule.

The successful candidate will manage commercial and Quantity Surveying activities across projects, drive cost control, and maintain strong client relationships while administering main contracts and supporting payment applications.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent required.
• Experience managing projects over £5m is essential.
• Experience with large-value package procurement.
• NEC3 or IChemE familiarity advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial and quantity surveying activities across projects and work packages.
• Collaborate with design, construction and supply chain teams to monitor project costs.
• Build strong client relationships to achieve project objectives.
• Administer main contract and manage contractual notices and correspondence.
• Lead preparation and agreement of payment applications.
• Produce cost reports, budgets and forecasts for project performance.
• Mentor junior commercial team members.

Key Duties

• Manage the commercial and quantity surveying activities across projects and work packages.
• Work closely with design, construction, and supply chain teams to monitor and control project costs.
• Build strong client relationships to ensure business and project objectives are achieved.
• Administer the main contract, managing contractual notices and correspondence as required.
• Prepare and issue subcontract documentation and support subcontractor management.
• Lead the preparation and agreement of applications for payment.
• Produce cost reports, value reports, budgets, and forecasts to support project performance.
• Support the development and mentoring of junior commercial team members.
• Maintain professional development through industry networking, associations, and events.
• Promote a positive, solutions-focused approach and provide open, constructive feedback.
• Carry out additional duties and training requirements appropriate to the role.
• Represent the business professionally, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent
• Experience of managing projects in excess of £5m
• Procurement of large value packages
• Experience in utilities/civil engineering/MEICA sectors
• NEC3 or IChemE Experience

Desirable

• Experience of managing and developing an individual or small team
• Working towards or have chartered membership of a recognised institution
