Senior Quantity Surveyor – Thames Valley Region

£65,000 - £75,000/annum + 8% Pension + Car Allowance + Private Medical Insurance

Location: Reading (Hybrid working options available)

J3A Recruitment is supporting a leading contractor in the Water sector, working on major projects within the Thames Water Framework. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a successful team, ensuring the financial delivery of critical water infrastructure projects, including AMP 8 projects and beyond.

Role Overview

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee the commercial management of large-scale projects or multiple smaller projects, ensuring financial success, risk mitigation, and compliance with business procedures. You will work closely with the Regional Director, Commercial Manager, and Project Managers to protect the company's financial interests.

Main Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Regional Director and Commercial Manager to develop and implement commercial strategies.
• Ensure timely submission of data for monthly and quarterly performance reviews.
• Collaborate with Project Managers on commercial administration to achieve financial targets.
• Prepare and approve draft sub-contracts within the Commercial Team.
• Manage contract notices and submissions to safeguard contractual positions.
• Oversee main contract payment applications and ensure all additional cost claims are submitted promptly.
• Assist Project Managers with sub-contractor performance management.
• Regularly submit main contract payment applications and ensure cash collection.
• Participate in dispute resolution processes and conduct meetings as needed.

Candidate Requirements

• Strong understanding of the construction industry and key stakeholders.
• Knowledge of measurement, valuation, and standard contract forms.
• Negotiation skills with clients and subcontractors.
• Experience in financial forecasting and cost/value reporting.
• Familiarity with the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
• Risk assessment and value engineering experience.
• Experience with live projects and final account settlements.
• Desirable: RICS membership and experience with CEMAR & COINS systems.
• Highly desirable: Previous experience in the Water industry.
