Job summary

Lester Lloyd Limited in Manchester is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong residential groundworks background to join their West Manchester office and support a growing pipeline of work across the Northwest.

You will manage the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple groundworks projects, produce monthly valuations and CVRs, handle variations and final accounts, and work closely with developers, main contractors and site teams.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor.
  • Essential Groundworks experience.
  • Experience in residential groundworks and housebuilding.
  • Experience with major residential developers or main contractors.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and contractual processes.
  • Experience managing valuations, variations, subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple groundworks projects.
  • Working closely with major residential developers and main contractors.
  • Managing projects from procurement through to final account.
  • Preparing and submitting monthly valuations and applications for payment.
  • Managing variations, compensation events and contractual changes.
  • Preparing, placing and managing subcontract orders.
  • Managing subcontractor accounts, payments and final accounts.
  • Reviewing subcontractor variations and valuations.
  • Monitoring project costs, budgets and profitability.
  • Preparing and managing CVRs and monthly commercial reports.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and taking appropriate action.
  • Reviewing contracts and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
  • Working closely with the operational and site teams to ensure commercial performance is maximised.
  • Attending site meetings and visiting projects as required.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, developers, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Supporting the commercial team and contributing to the continued success and growth of the business.

Senior Quantity Surveyor Residential Groundworks

Location: West Manchester office based with regular site visits
Salary: £60,000 £75,000 + car allowance

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an award-winning, well-established and highly respected residential groundworks contractor based in West Manchester.

The business has an excellent reputation within the construction industry and works with some of the Northwest's major housing developers, with a strong and established pipeline of work.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a residential groundworks background to join a successful business offering genuine long-term career progression.

The role will be primarily office based in West Manchester, with regular visits to live sites across the Northwest.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple groundworks projects.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor.

  • Essential Groundworks experience.

  • Ideally, experience within residential groundworks and housebuilding.

  • Experience working with major residential developers or main contractors.

  • Strong knowledge of commercial and contractual processes.

  • Experience managing valuations, variations, subcontractor accounts and final accounts.

  • Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting and CVRs.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines.

  • A commercially astute and proactive approach.

  • Good IT and commercial systems knowledge.

  • A full UK driving licence is preferred due to the requirement for site visits.
