Building Careers UK Ltd is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to deliver commercial management for residential groundworks projects in the Liverpool area. You will oversee contract awards, payments, variations, cost forecasts, and final accounts, while coordinating with site teams.

The ideal candidate will have proven QS experience in groundworks or civil engineering, housing exposure, and strong negotiation and stakeholder skills, with a degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within groundworks or civil engineering.
  • Housing and residential groundworks experience is essential.
  • Experience with residential developers or housebuilders is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of commercial management and contract administration.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive and commercially driven approach.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline would be advantageous.

  • Prepare and submit applications for payment, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Procuring and managing subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Produce accurate cost forecasts, CVRs, and commercial reports.
  • Monitor project costs and ensure commercial targets are achieved.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Work closely with operational teams to maximise project performance and profitability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, site teams, and stakeholders.

Quantity Surveyor - Residential Groundworks

Location - Liverpool

Salary/Package - £45,000 - £75,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

Our client is a leading civil engineering and groundworks contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure and groundworks packages across the North West. Working in partnership with many of the UK’s leading housebuilders and developers, they specialise in residential developments, roads and sewers, foundations, drainage, highways, and associated civil engineering works.

Through continued investment in their people, technology, and plant fleet, the business has established itself as a trusted delivery partner, recognised for its commitment to quality, safety, and delivering projects on time and within budget. As a result of continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the commercial delivery of multiple residential groundworks projects from contract award through to final account

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, site teams, and key stakeholders

  • Supporting the Commercial Manager with strategic commercial decisions and reporting

The Ideal Candidate

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will have:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the groundworks or civil engineering sector

  • Housing and residential groundworks experience is essential

  • Previous experience working with residential developers or housebuilders

  • Strong understanding of commercial management and contract administration

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • A proactive and commercially driven approach

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline would be advantageous
