Job summary

Edge Careers is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial aspects of construction projects, maximise profitability, and nurture relations with clients, contractors and the project team.

Based in the Construction team, you will oversee delivery, safety, quality and cash flow. Requires a Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying, experience in similar roles, and strong IT and organisational skills; two references are required.

• Clear communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and supply chain.
• Experience in a similar role with strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise deadlines.
• Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office and bespoke systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial resources to maximise gross margin and control contracts.
• Appoint subcontractors and place orders for materials and plant within delegated authorities.
• Measure and value work to support invoicing and supplier payments, and manage cash flows.
• Lead and motivate the project’s commercial function and collaborate across sectors.
• Assess, control and mitigate commercial and contractual risks with accurate reporting.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a vital role in managing the commercial aspects of construction projects. You'll be responsible for maximising project profitability whilst building strong relationships with clients, contractors and your team. What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll be working within the Construction team, supporting them in delivering projects safely, on time, and to the required quality. Your day to day will include:

• Managing commercial resources to maximise planned gross margin through effective contract placement and control
• Appointing subcontractors and placing orders for materials and plant within delegated authorities
• Measuring and valuing work to support customer invoicing and supplier payments, whilst positively managing project cash flows
• Leading and motivating the project's commercial function, fostering collaborative relationships across all sectors
• Assessing, controlling and mitigating commercial and contractual risks whilst providing accurate reports and forecasts

• You hold relevant qualifications - a Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying
• You have experience in a similar role and demonstrate strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
• You're confident using IT packages including Microsoft Office and bespoke systems
