Client: Local Authority in Croydon
Job Title: Senior/Quantity Surveyor
Pay Rate: Rate paying between £350-£420 UMBRELLA for Senior applicants
Hours: 36 hours a week (Mon-Fri)
Duration: Initial Contract up until 30th September
Location: Hybrid working after the initial few weeks in the office full-time (Croydon), then 2 days a week working from home (may be available)
Role Summary and Responsibilities
- Reviewing and interrogating contractor quotations with drawings and measured works
- Visiting sites to gain understanding of the works and review contractor monthly payment applications
- Providing cost advice to officers regarding works/projects, contract terms, quotes, rates, costs, tenders, and variations
- Undertaking cost analysis, market testing, and value engineering exercises across all work streams
- Reviewing commercial submissions of tenders and completing tender analysis reports
- Reviewing contractor quotations as part of the Section 20 process
- Reviewing and approving complex applications/variation orders against established basket rates and NHF schedule of rates, scopes of works, and other pricing schedules to ensure cost control and value delivery
- Overseeing contract administration processes in line with the Contracts and Construction Act—processing applications/payments, issuing certificates, and processing invoices for payment
- Monitoring daily expenditure on capital contracts in Housing
- Providing reports to the Head of Service for commercial, contract, and governance reporting
- Collating indexation calculations for programmes in January annually, submitting to the commercial lead for review and approval, and issuing to contractors for the new financial year
- Completing variable profit calculations for allocated programmes for strategic review and payment assessment
- Undertaking regular basket and schedule of rates reviews and annual open book reviews across contracts
