Job summary

Apple Technical Recruitment are recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a privately owned main contractor in Cambridgeshire. You will join a team handling Education, Healthcare, Commercial and Mixed-Use schemes, with initial responsibility on a Higher Education project in Cambridge and a local mixed-use scheme valued £2m-£10m.

The successful candidate will have 7+ years as a QS in a main contractor, experience using JCT contracts, a BSc in Quantity Surveying, and strong communication to drive

Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years as a QS within a Main Contractor.
• Essential experience using JCT contracts.
• BSc in Quantity Surveying or comparable qualification.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily commercial management functions, including procurement and order placement.
• Accurate measurement and valuations of on-site works.
• Timely applications for payment and reconciliation of accounts.
• Manage variations and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Settle final accounts and secure practical completion from a commercial perspective.

Apple Technical Recruitment are working exclusively with a privately owned medium sized Main Contractor with c20years+ of history in East Anglia. The business is recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Cambridgeshire region.

With a robust pipeline of work across Cambridge, specifically within the Education, Healthcare, Commercial and Mixed-Use sectors.

The successful candidate will initially take the commercial lead on a Higher Education project in Cambridge and a mixed-use project in the local area, both valued between c£2m-£10m.

Duties & Responsibilities

As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full responsibility for daily commercial management functions, including:

• Sub-contract enquiries, procurement, and order placement.


• Accurate measurement and valuations of work on-site.


• Timely applications for payment and reconciling accounts.


• Managing variations and ensuring cost control throughout the project lifecycle.


• Settling final accounts and ensuring practical completion is met commercially.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

• Experience: Minimum 7+ years as a QS within a Main Contractor.


• Contracts: Essential experience using JCTcontracts.


• Education: BSc in Quantity Surveying or a comparable qualification.


• Skills: Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.


• Background: Previous experience as an Quantity Surveyor, Project QS, or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
