Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a highly capable Commercial/Contracts Manager to oversee the efficient management and issuing of notices, prepare payment applications, and maintain robust cost reporting. The role requires strong financial acumen, risk management, and the ability to lead a team while ensuring compliance with HSE and contractual standards.

You will identify commercial opportunities, manage contractual correspondence, and drive change and cost control across construction projects.

Qualifications

• Proven negotiating and team-leading abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage payment applications and certificates.

Job description

• Undertake the efficient and effective management and issuing of accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence
• Ensure contractual and commercial risks and opportunities are identified to the Contract Leader
• Prepare and agree applications for payment, or assess and prepare payment certificates
• Maintain registers of variations, delay, extension times and claims
• Implement the Company's commercial policies and procedures compliantly and consistently
• Assist with monthly progress valuations and claims for work completed
• Produce pre-Contract tender negotiations and reports where necessary
• Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts and Contract Leader Reports
• Review value management and advise on risk management
• Prepare supply chain enquiries; negotiate, administer, and finalise or close out supply chain contracts
• Plan and implement change management and cost control
• Maintain awareness of the different construction contracts in current use
• Ensure all health, safety and environmental risk situations are brought to the attention of the Contract Leader or Project Manager

Requirements

• Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen
• Practical approach, logical thought process and a methodical way of working
• Extensive experience of setting up and/or operating office management systems, including filing systems and document control and distribution
• Extensive experience of technical minute taking at contractual meetings
• Ability to collate information and prepare reports, payment certificates, interim financial reports and closeout reports
• Extensive experience of drafting effective contractual correspondence and facilitating collaborative solutions
• Proven negotiating and team-working skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team
• Strong analytical skills
• Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge
• Confidence and ability to assert influence
• Holds an RICS / CICES accredited degree
• Driving required
