Highways & Civil Engineering

A Senior Quantity Surveyor is currently required to join the Commercial team of a Civil Engineering Main Contractor based in Devon.

Operating across sectors such as Highways, Rail, Construction, and Build, with regional offices in Plymouth, Exeter, and Bristol, the company undertakes projects including roads & sewers, foundations, infrastructure, major housing developments, and Highways.

The main purpose of the role is to join the Major Projects team and lead/support the Commercial function of a £2bn, 10-year infrastructure programme supporting the Royal Navy’s submarine maintenance on an NEC4 contract.

Key Duties:

• Provide commercial input, including financial and contractual performance reports to Directors.
• Help ensure business targets and KPIs are exceeded.
• Prepare monthly cost/value reports and review results.
• Create commercial reports and analyze results.
• Physically measure works and agree measurements with clients and subcontractors.
• Approve certification and payments for subcontractor accounts, monitoring forecasts.
• Maximize cash flow and ensure timely payments.

Key Requirements:

• Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience supporting commercial aspects of design, consulting, or highways contracts, particularly under NEC 3/4.
• Successful main contract management experience.
• Supply chain procurement, management, and accounting experience.
• Experience in dispute resolution and avoidance.
• Financial budgeting and reporting experience.
• Promotes an inclusive working environment.
• UK Driving Licence is essential.
