We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our team, specialising in groundworks projects across Somerset, Devon and surrounding areas. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of the groundworks sector, including drainage, earthworks, foundations, and infrastructure packages.
Key Responsibilities:Manage all commercial aspects of groundworks projects from tender stage through to final account.
Prepare, submit and negotiate subcontractor and supplier packages.
Monitor and control project costs to maximise profitability and value for money.
Provide accurate forecasting and reporting of project financial performance.
Liaise with project managers, clients, site teams, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
Measure and value the work done on-site, ensuring accurate interim valuations and payments.
Identify and assess variations, claims and potential risks or opportunities.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry regulations.
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the groundworks or civil engineering sector.
Ability to oversee 5 or 6 jobs at any one time with minimal assistance
Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Proficient in measurement and cost control.
Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, project cost management software).
Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
Experience with residential or commercial groundwork packages.
RICS or other professional accreditation.
Local knowledge of the Somerset construction industry.
