Job summary

Workforce Group are recruiting for a Senior Quality Engineer in the automotive sector. You will take ownership of customer and supplier quality across live programmes, interfacing with OEMs, suppliers and internal teams.

In this hands-on role you will lead 8D/5 Whys investigations, PSW submissions and supplier audits, ensuring compliance with IATF 16949 and PPAP requirements.

Qualifications

• Background in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with automotive quality tools and processes.
• Knowledge of IATF 16949 and core tools (APQP, PPAP).
• Proven ability to manage supplier and customer quality activities.

Responsibilities

• Own quality delivery across assigned programmes and act as main quality contact for OEM customers.

• Oversee PSW submissions and support customer approvals.
• Monitor supplier quality performance and drive corrective actions.

SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER – AUTOMOTIVE

Location: Daventry
Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Workforce Group are working with a leading specialist automotive manufacturer who are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a quality professional who wants to take ownership of customer and supplier quality, work closely with major automotive programmes, and play a key role from APQP and PPAP through to production launch and ongoing quality performance.

You’ll be working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, acting as a key technical quality interface between the business, OEM customers and suppliers.

THE ROLE

As Senior Quality Engineer, you will take ownership of quality delivery across assigned programmes, working closely with customers, suppliers, production and engineering teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Acting as the main quality contact for assigned OEM customers
• Managing customer quality concerns, non-conformances and concessions
• Leading structured 8D, 5 Whys and Fishbone root cause investigations
• Managing PSW submissions and supporting customer approvals
• Managing supplier quality performance and corrective actions
• Supporting and conducting supplier audits
• Reviewing and approving supplier PPAP submissions
• Identifying and escalating supplier quality, delivery and capability risks
• Supporting new supplier assessment and onboarding
• Leading supplier readiness activities ahead of production launch
• Supporting trial runs, first-off inspections and process validation
• Ensuring quality processes comply with IATF 16949
• Monitoring and reporting quality KPIs
• Working closely with production, engineering and quality teams
• Maintaining a hands-on presence on the production floor and at supplier sites
• Using FARO CMM equipment when required
• Developing measurement programmes and working with GD&T and datum strategies

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment, ideally within automotive.

You should have experience with:

• IATF 16949
• Automotive Core Tools
• APQP
• PPAP
• PFMEA
• Control Plans
• 8D / 5 Whys / Fishbone
• Engineering drawings and GD&T
• Manufacturing and production environments
• Supplier quality and development
• Customer quality management
• FARO CMM / measurement systems

You’ll also need to be confident communicating with customers, suppliers and internal teams, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

A full UK driving licence is required as occasional travel to customer and supplier sites may be necessary.
