Job summary

LJ Recruitment seeks an experienced Quality Auditor to provide independent assurance across residential children's homes, supported accommodation and independent schools. This remote role requires regular travel across the UK, including overnight stays, with audits planned at least quarterly and two audits per week as a rolling programme.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023.
• Experience auditing, inspection or quality assessment within children's social care.
• Ability to analyse evidence and make sound, balanced judgements on compliance, risk and quality.
• Excellent report-writing skills with clear, accurate communications.
• Strong written and verbal communication, engaging with staff, children and young people.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills to manage a busy audit schedule.
• High level of integrity and maintain independence/objectivity.
• Proactive approach to identifying risks and driving continuous improvement.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel nationally with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Develop and undertake structured, evidence-based audits across residential children’s homes, supported accommodation and independent schools.
• Assess services against statutory regulations including the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023 and Independent School Standards.
• Provide independent assurance regarding service-level compliance and quality.
• Review documentation, records, policies and evidence to identify strengths, risks and areas for improvement.
• Identify and report non-compliance and regulatory risk.
• Produce high-quality, accurate audit reports with findings and recommendations.
• Engage professionally with staff, children and young people during audits.
• Maintain independence and objectivity in audits and conclusions.
• Monitor progress against actions and contribute to continuous quality improvement.
• Manage an allocated audit schedule and ensure timely audits and reports.
• Travel nationally to undertake service visits, including overnight stays.
