Job summary

D R Newitt Recruitment seeks a Senior Quality Manager for a Midlands-based food production site. You will lead the site's Technical function, ensuring legal compliance, food safety and adherence to customer specifications on the shop floor.

You will recruit and develop Quality Managers, drive external audits (BRCGS, Red Tractor, retailer) and maintain audit schedules with corrective actions. Strong leadership, communication and retailer know-how are essential for success.

Qualifications

• HND in a food-related discipline or equivalent.
• Advanced Food Safety Level 4 qualification is required.
• Advanced HACCP Level 4 qualification is required.
• Experience with BRCGS or ISO 9000 standards is essential.
• Proven leadership and ability to motivate teams.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, induct, train and manage Quality Managers on site.
• Develop the technical function to meet talent needs.
• Support external audits (BRCGS, Red Tractor, retailer).
• Maintain internal audit schedules and drive corrective actions.
• Provide technical monitoring to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Review non-conformances and plan long-term actions.
• Review product/specifications and ensure versions are current.
• Coordinate investigations into technical customer complaints.
• Foster relationships with internal and external customers; support site visits.
• Link NPD and production for new or changed products and processes.

Job description

As Senior Quality Manager, you'll manage the site's Technical function, ensuring legal compliance, food safety and adherence to customer specification, while driving standards on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure Quality Managers are effectively recruited, inducted, trained and managed
• Ensure team development is in line with talent needs defined by the technical function
• Support external audits, e.g. BRCGS, Red Tractor, retailer
• Maintain internal audit schedules, ensure audits are completed, and communicate corrective action plans so non-conformances are signed off within agreed timescales
• Provide Operations with technical monitoring and auditing so customer requirements are understood and achieved
• Review the frequency of non-conformances to identify longer-term corrective action plans
• Review specifications for all products, packaging and ingredients, ensuring versions are current and meet customer specifications
• Coordinate investigations into technical customer complaints, ensuring findings and action plans are completed and communicated internally and externally
• Support effective relationships with internal and external customers, including during site visits
• Act as an effective link between NPD and production, ensuring new or changed products, processes and packaging are introduced effectively
