Job summary

Zest Recruitment is partnering with a leading fresh produce business in the UK to recruit a Senior Quality Manager. You will lead the Quality Team and Production Management functions, shape the site Quality and Compliance Strategy, and ensure top-tier food safety standards.

You will govern the Food Safety Management System including HACCP, TACCP, traceability, pest control and hygiene, while maintaining BRCGS AA+ (Unannounced) and Organic certifications.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a QA/Technical/Compliance role within food manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP and food safety systems.
• Experience building and developing high-performing teams.
• Able to balance strategic oversight with hands-on operations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

An established fresh produce business, supplying major UK retailers, is looking for an experienced Senior Quality Manager to lead its Quality and Product Management functions at a busy, fast-paced site.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who can combine strategic oversight of food safety and compliance with strong people leadership - building a high-performing team and embedding a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

The Role:

• Lead, develop and coach the Quality Team and Production Management function
• Develop and deliver the site's Quality and Compliance Strategy
• Provide governance and oversight of the site's Food Safety Management System, including HACCP, TACCP, traceability, pest management and hygiene
• Maintain BRCGS AA+ (Unannounced) and Organic certification standards
• Lead resolution of significant customer complaints and compliance issues, and support customer/third-party audits
• Own site quality performance measures and KPIs, driving continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide oversight of the Product Management function, ensuring customer specifications and product standards are consistently met
• Work cross-functionally with Operations and Commercial teams

About You

• Proven leadership experience in a Quality/Technical/Compliance role within food manufacturing (fresh produce experience an advantage)
• Strong working knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP and food safety management systems
• Track record of leading and developing teams
• Comfortable operating strategically while remaining close to day-to-day operational detail
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
