Job Title: Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

The role

As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join the MIP (Major Infrastructure Projects) Business Unit at Devonport to drive critical infrastructure investments, supporting future MOD ship and submarine programmes through the design, build, and commissioning of Astute Class submarine facilities.

Day-to-day, you’ll offer early-stage support to projects, ensuring the definition of suitable quality requirements to meet objectives effectively.

• Ensure LTRs (Life Time Records) demonstrate the achievement of plant, equipment, and infrastructure design intent.
• Advise suppliers and subcontractors on LTR requirements and conduct reviews for compliance assurance.
• Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, and Construction teams on quality-related matters.
• Review and enhance project deliverable documentation.
• Evaluate and refine quality-related documents, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Management Plans, while supporting contractor development.
  
  
  

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Dockyard

Essential Experience Of The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

• Proficient in quality management systems, ideally BS EN ISO 9001.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Self-motivated with effective priority management and decision-making abilities.
• Skilled in handling quality-related issues under pressure with focus and efficiency.
• Experienced in Quality Planning across the full Project or Product Lifecycle, including APQP and PPAP.
  
  
  

Qualifications For The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

• Certified Lead Auditor or extensive experience in auditing systems, processes, products, or suppliers (preferably BS EN ISO 9001).
• NVQ Level 4 or equivalent professional recognition, or significant engineering experience with NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
