Job summary

Schroders is seeking a Principal Software Engineer (Python) to help build an AI-native investment platform within Public Markets. You will craft scalable Python solutions, leverage AWS cloud-native services, and shape analytics workflows used by investment professionals.

You will collaborate with portfolio managers, researchers and traders, applying modern engineering practices, TDD, and agile delivery to deliver resilient, secure systems that scale across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Strong Python development experience in a professional environment.
• Experience building large-scale analytics workflows with ETL, orchestration, and distributed compute using Pandas, Polars, and Dask.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and OLAP/OLTP paradigms.
• Familiarity with Agile, DevSecOps and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Write clean Python code to build reusable components and packages.
• Build cloud-first solutions on AWS.
• Refine and evolve the platform in response to business needs.
• Collaborate with business users to co-create maintainable code.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
