Job summary

Summer-Browning Associates supports a Central Government client in locating a Senior Developer (G7) with strong Python and Django expertise for a 6-month contract in London, Bristol or Manchester. The role requires hands-on experience with Docker, Git/GitHub, AWS container deployments, and building CI/CD tooling.

The successful candidate will lead work in an Agile environment, mentor junior developers, and ensure security-by-design practices while deploying scalable data-centric applications.

Qualifications

• Strong Python development experience with Django or similar web frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Git, GitHub and CI/CD tooling.
• Experience deploying containerised applications on AWS.
• Ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and IaC using Python CDK or similar.
• Experience integrating data from multiple sources and handling logs/observability.
• Proficiency with Linux/UNIX, shell scripting and security-by-design practices.
• Proven track record in an Agile environment and mentoring junior developers.

Responsibilities

• Lead development work in an Agile team and mentor junior developers.
• Design, implement and optimise Python/Django applications.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and IaC for cloud deployments.
• Deploy and operate containerised apps on AWS, monitoring with logs and alerts.
