Job summary

Summer-Browning Associates Ltd seeks a Senior Developer (G7) to deliver Python/Django web applications in a hybrid setup across London, Bristol or Manchester. You will leverage Docker, GitHub and AWS to build containerised solutions and lead CI/CD initiatives, while mentoring junior developers within an Agile environment.

The role focuses on secure-by-design software and data integration from diverse sources, with emphasis on problem-solving in cloud deployments and log-driven debugging.

Qualifications

• Expertise in Python and Django web frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of Docker, Git and GitHub.
• Experience with AWS and deploying containerised apps.
• Ability to build CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, CodeBuild/CodePipeline).
• Experience integrating data from multiple sources.
• Ability to diagnose running apps via logs and monitoring tools.

Job description

SBA are currently supporting our Central Government client who are seeking a Senior Developer (G7)| (Python & Django) on an initial 6 month contract.

Location: London, Bristol OR Manchester (hybrid office attendance)

You will have:

• A high level of expertise in Python and Python web frameworks, ideally Django.
• Strong working knowledge of modern development tools, including Docker, git and GitHub
• A good working knowledge of Amazon Web Services, in particular deploying containerised applications
• An ability to build and maintain CI/CD tooling, ideally using GitHub Actions and AWS CodeBuild/CodePipeline
• Strong expertise building applications which integrate, transform and organise data from a range of sources
• The ability to investigate problems with running applications, including interrogating AWS logs, responding to errors raised in Sentry (or similar tools) and applying fixes
• Experience of deploying applications and infrastructure using either the Python CDK or other infrastructure as code tools
• A good working knowledge of Linux/UNIX, including system administration and shell scripting
• The ability to secure applications and cloud environments in line with industry best practice
• Leading work within an Agile environment, including leading and supporting more junior developers
• Good working knowledge of cybersecurity topics, specifically secure-by-design software development

NB: Active or lapsed SC that can be transferred is required for the assignment. Successful applicant can start on BPSS while the SC transfer is underway
