Job summary

Oldcastle APG, part of CRH, seeks an experienced Extrusion Die & Tooling Designer to own tooling from concept to commissioning for PVC fence profiles. The role emphasizes dies, calibrators, cooling systems, and related tooling to meet target line speeds and tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Plastics, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience designing profile extrusion dies and tooling for PVC/fence profiles.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent) and 2D drafting with GD&T.
• Knowledge of polymer flow, die balancing, and calibration/cooling; experience with die flow simulation is a plus.
• Experience with machining processes in toolmaking (CNC milling, wire/sinker EDM, grinding, polishing).

Responsibilities

• Design profile extrusion dies, land lengths, die plates, and related tooling for PVC fence profiles.
• Develop calibrators, vacuum tanks, cooling fixtures, puller pads, and cutter/punch tooling.
• Lead tooling trials and commissioning with Die Tuners and Production.
• Review new profiles for manufacturability and recommend geometry changes.
• Maintain 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and revision control for dies and tooling.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality, and Product Development teams.
