Job summary

Equals One Ltd is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement and stores team in supporting manufacturing operations in Malton. The role focuses on reliable supply, supplier strategy, cost control and cross‑functional collaboration.

You will manage internal stock accuracy, negotiate favorable terms, and develop supplier performance metrics. Strong SAP and Excel skills are essential, with international sourcing experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' purchasing or procurement management experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing domestic and international supply chains.
• Proven experience leading and developing a purchasing or stores team.
• Strong supplier negotiation, relationship management and cost-control skills.
• Experience improving supplier performance and managing supply chain risks.
• Working knowledge of SAP, strong Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

Responsibilities

• Ensure materials arrive on time, in full and to specification, with accurate SAP records and stock levels.
• Monitor supplier lead times, shortages and delivery performance; resolve issues to maintain production schedules.
• Oversee goods inward and stores, ensuring stock control and availability of materials.
• Negotiate supplier contracts for competitive pricing, lead times and payment terms.
• Manage import, customs and international purchasing requirements.
• Build long-term supplier partnerships with reviews and forecasts; segment base by spend and criticality.
• Identify supply chain risks early and propose mitigation options to management.
• Collaborate with R&D, Sales and Production on demand forecasting and purchasing plans.
• Lead and develop the purchasing and stores team; promote communication and continuous improvement.
• Be accountable for on-time receipt of materials, stock accuracy and cost savings.
