Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the UK is seeking a senior transport planner to lead public transport studies, shape policy and develop investment cases for new bus, rail and interchanges. You’ll work with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver schemes and engage with clients and stakeholders across local, regional and national levels.

The role requires a strong background in transport planning, BSIPs/EPs experience, and excellent communication. Hybrid working and regional opportunities are available across the UK.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of UK government bus policy and reform.
• Strong understanding of political and economic factors in transport planning.
• Technical grasp of transport planning principles and appraisal techniques.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead public transport studies (bus/BRT route feasibility), scoping, demand forecasting, and business cases.
• Shape strategy and policy, linking policy changes to technical workstreams.
• Develop investment cases for new public transport infrastructure.
• Collaborate with active travel, Net Zero and development planning teams.
• Build client relationships and contribute to project growth and delivery.
