Job summary

Siemens Smart Infrastructure – Electrification & Automation (Digital Grid) seeks a Principal Design Engineer (Protection) to act as the technical authority on protection architecture and lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering lower-carbon transmission projects.

Initial onboarding includes 2–3 days on-site at Hebburn with subsequent remote work and occasional Hebburn travel; base salary £70,000–£85,000 plus annual bonus and generous benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical protection & control for UK Transmission & Distribution networks.
• Knowledge of National Grid specifications and delivery processes.
• Leadership experience or readiness to mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-voltage protection and control systems for UK clients.
• Act as technical lead for Protection engineering teams.
• Refine workflows to improve efficiency and on-time delivery.
