Job summary

SRT Marine Systems plc is seeking a Project Systems Architect to lead the overarching design and technical architecture across Project Delivery. You will ensure holistic integration of systems, subsystems and infrastructure, maintain governance, evaluate interfaces, and drive decisions that protect performance, resilience and cost.

The role requires collaboration with Engineering, Product Management, and external partners, with a hybrid work model from the Bristol base and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Extensive engineering design and architecture experience in multi-disciplinary environments.
• Strong systems-thinking with ability to view physical engineering, networks, data centres and infrastructure as a complete solution.
• Experience governing architectures, reference designs, design standards and technical design principles.
• Strong technical decision-making skills with ability to defend architectural choices.
• Design review and technical assurance experience across multiple workstreams.
• Excellent interface management across teams, suppliers and partners.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management with non-technical audiences.
• Ability to influence without direct line-management authority.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and act as senior design authority within Project Engineering.
• Collaborate with Global Engineering Lead during handover of designs into Project Engineering.
• Ensure cross-disciplinary integration and defined interfaces/dependencies.
• Define and maintain architectural principles, reference architectures and standards.
• Provide direction when architectural decisions span multiple disciplines.
• Lead escalations and decisions on complex architectural issues.
• Own architectural governance, reviews, deviations and risk management.
• Chair design reviews for significant or complex solutions.
• Promote reusable architectures and standardised engineering solutions across projects.
• Clearly define design ownership with ICPs while maintaining architectural integrity.
• Provide forward-looking technical direction for future requirements and technology adoption.
• Mentor Design Engineers and Engineering Leads to raise capability.
