CSM2, a specialist equipment manufacturer supplying maritime atmosphere control systems and support services, has an exciting opportunity to join the In Service Support team.
The Senior Project Manager manages projects of various sizes and scales, teams, and functions within CMS2 to deliver exceptional support services. They are accountable for all In Service Support project deliveries. This role involves leading, coaching, and developing ISS Project Managers and ISS Engineers, with support to the ISS Technical Manager, to provide exemplary support across all customers by delivering on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coach a small team of ISS Project Managers and ISS Engineers, responsible for support and contractual elements of the ISS business, with revenue responsibility, reporting to the ISS Director.
- Oversee all in-service project activities, including customer support reporting on project status, orders, and customer satisfaction.
- Write and review project proposals within ISS, ensuring scope, financials, assumptions, exclusions, and dependencies align with CMS2 standards.
- Manage line responsibilities for ISS Project Managers and Engineers within the team.
- Support the ISS Technical Manager with engineering requirements and tasks.
- Manage matrix delivery resources, including engineering, production, and supply chain requirements.
- Manage the UK MOD Support contract (approximately 50% FTE).
- Represent project delivery schedules to customers, supporting ISS PMs.
- Assist in developing and implementing effective in-service support strategies aligned with business goals and contracts.
- Lead customer meetings to identify issues and improvements.
- Handle customer escalations and strive for continuous improvement.
- Provide feedback on serviceability for new design contracts.
- Ensure robust contractual and project baselines, with effective change management and reporting.
- Encourage proactive work from ISS PMs and Engineers, coordinating with Operations and Production to meet delivery requirements.
- Promote best practices and support team development for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and manage KPIs, contract metrics, risks, opportunities, and budgets.
- Manage customer relationships and reporting for availability and maintenance contracts.
- Handle customer change requests through established change management processes.
- Identify and strategize for contract risks.
- Monitor customer feedback and equipment performance for improvements.
- Engage with stakeholders across global prime contractors and users in the Defence Industry for effective stakeholder management.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with stakeholders.
- Professional knowledge of working in a complex regulated engineering environment.
- Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing preferred.
- Proven experience managing contracts/projects to scope, time, cost, and quality.
- Strong presentation skills and professional appearance.
- Attention to detail, planning, and financial acumen.
- Knowledge of risk management, lessons learned, and business management.
- Experience in the Defence Industry and managing small teams.
- Background in Marine, Shipbuilding, Ship Repair, or OEM advantageous.
- Understanding of Matrix Management and ERP/MRP systems.
- Knowledge of ISO9001 or similar QMS and UK Health & Safety legislation (IOSH).
- Experience in lean manufacturing environments.
- Willingness to travel within the UK as required.
Other Requirements
Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK and be able to obtain UK security clearance to Security Check level, which typically requires five years of UK residence.
