Job summary

Leonardo in the UK, Southampton, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead a portfolio of complex projects across delivery and development, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget results in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.

You will report to the Head of Programmes for the infrared detectors business, coordinating IPTs, managing budgets, risks and opportunities, and ensuring compliance with contractual and legislative requirements while fostering a collaborative, high‑performing team.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing multiple, complex projects across the lifecycle.
• Leadership experience in delivery of projects with EVM and proven performance.
• Experience managing R&D/development projects within a technical environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams in a custom working environment.
• Ability to quickly pick up new tool sets and processes with good analytical skills.
• Demonstrated strong customer & supplier relationship skills.
• APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, monitor and report on multiple projects across the lifecycle.
• Regularly report project health, including cash flow, earned value, and cost to complete.
• Conduct risk and opportunity reviews and mitigate where possible.
• Coordinate with resource managers, project controllers and planners to maintain accurate plans.
• Lead IPT activities and foster teamwork across functions.
• Support bid management and reviews for customer requirements.
