Senior Project Manager - Finance and Business Management - 31005

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Environment Agency (EA) in a senior project management role focused on finance and business management within the largest digital transformation programme in the Environment & Business directorate. The Regulatory Services Programme aims to deliver digital services that transform environmental regulation.

The successful candidate will lead within the Programme Management Office (PMO), providing valuable input into financial and business management to support risk mitigation, issue resolution, and value for money delivery. Strong experience in managing complex financial data and collaborating to drive value is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand and support the financial and economic cases underpinning the programme's business case and bids.
• Ensure programme deliverables align with strategic objectives and manage change control processes.
• Support the Programme Manager in ensuring affordability and value for money in work-packages.
• Manage stakeholder queries and produce regular financial and programme reports.
• Assist with investment and funding activities and ensure compliance with governance and assurance standards.
• Support business management through whole life cost allocations.

Team and Environment

Work within the Digital, Innovation and Programmes team, shaping digital service delivery and collaborating with Defra shared services and third-party suppliers to improve efficiency and user experience.

Experience and Skills

• Experience in managing complex financial information and working in dynamic programmes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, SharePoint, PowerBI.
• Understanding of financial processes, including budget management, charge funding, and approval routes.
• Experience with digital programmes and governance requirements is beneficial but not essential.
