Job summary

WSP is hiring a Senior Project Manager in our PMCM Education team to lead the delivery of high-value infrastructure projects for the Department for Education and similar clients. You will provide leadership at client and project level, manage programmes, cost and quality, and guide the team from feasibility through operation, ensuring value and timely delivery across complex projects.

The role offers opportunities to work on landmark projects with a global engineering firm and supports

Qualifications

• Experience delivering public sector projects for Local and Central Government.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations applicable to infrastructure projects (CDM).
• Experience from Feasibility Study stage through to Operation and in particular the stage deliverables.
• Experience procuring contractors, developing contractual documents and achieving Contract Close.
• Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team on behalf of a client.
• Experience developing and managing programmes and identifying issues to resolve time challenges.
• Experience identifying and managing risk and mitigating outcomes.
• Experience understanding cost management, working with QS for value to client.

Responsibilities

• Leading projects from RIBA 1 to 6 and providing a consultancy project management service to the client.
• Developing the plans and strategies to successfully deliver the project objectives.
• Selecting, developing and managing the project team.
• Identifying, addressing and resolving differences between individuals and/or interest groups.
• Empowering and inspiring others to deliver successful projects.
• Agreeing contracts on behalf of the client, in liaison with their legal representatives and monitoring compliance and managing variances.
• Producing Feasibility Studies, taking inputs from various sources, managing progress and delivering a high-quality report.
• Proactive management during procurement and construction phases, engaging with Contractors, interrogating and challenging proposals to ensure quality and value for money.
• Monitor and report on progress against agreed programmes at all stages and agree strategies to keep on programme or mitigation measures when timescales may vary.

Education

MAPM, MCIOB, MRICS or equivalent certification
