Aureos is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a major nuclear decommissioning and demolition project in Dungeness, England. You will be responsible for safe, compliant, and efficient delivery under NEC4, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing complex interfaces with regulators.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of a major nuclear decommissioning/demolition project from planning through execution and close-out.
• Drive performance across HSEQ, programme, and commercial outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with nuclear safety case requirements, regulatory standards, and site licence conditions.
• Manage demolition and dismantling activities, including hazardous materials handling and waste streams.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams including engineering, radiological protection, and commercial functions.
• Manage subcontractors and specialist demolition contractors, ensuring safe systems of work and high-quality outputs.
• Oversee planning, programming, and sequencing of complex demolition works.
• Administer and manage project delivery under NEC4 requirements, including early warnings, compensation events, and programme submissions.
• Maintain robust risk management for radiological, structural, and environmental hazards.
• Drive client relationships and interface with regulators.
• Ensure reporting on progress, cost, risk, and performance.
• Foster safety leadership, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
• Lead decisions to resolve delivery challenges and mitigate delays.
• Ensure teams are competent and aligned with objectives and behaviours.
• Maintain comprehensive project records including cost tracking and compliance documentation.

The role requires full accountability for safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of complex demolition and deconstruction works within a highly regulated nuclear environment, under an NEC4 contract.

The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, technical understanding of demolition methodologies, and experience managing risk, programme, and stakeholders in complex infrastructure or nuclear projects.

Primary tasks and duties

Qualifications and Training

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 10+ years’ experience in major construction or infrastructure projects
• Proven experience in demolition/deconstruction projects
• Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts
• Experience working within highly regulated environments
• Demonstrated leadership of large, multidisciplinary teams on complex projects
• Strong understanding of demolition methodologies, temporary works, and sequencing risks
• Excellent health, safety, and environmental leadership, particularly in high-hazard environments
• Ability to manage interfaces across engineering, construction, and regulatory stakeholders
• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing cost, change, and risk
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and regulators
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and contractors
• Proven ability to deliver projects to programme under challenging conditions

Desirable

• Chartered status (ICE, CIOB, or similar)
• Relevant nuclear industry training (e.g., nuclear safety culture, radiological protection awareness)
• Experience delivering projects within the nuclear decommissioning sector
• Understanding of nuclear licensing, safety case requirements, and regulatory frameworks
• Experience working on nuclear licensed sites
• Knowledge of radioactive waste management and decontamination processes
