Job description

Senior Project Manager

Location: Ipswich

Join the exciting journey of one of the UK's largest nuclear projects at Sizewell C!

The Sizewell C (SZC) project requires a Senior Project Manager to join the Civil Works Alliance in driving the delivery of the Enabling and Earthworks function.

The role is to provide leadership to ensure the effective delivery of the Enabling works scope as part of the overarching Civils Programme of SZC, whilst recognising and managing the impacts of the programme on the wider Project. The Senior Project Manager will develop strategies for delivering the Enabling works scope within cost, schedule, and quality constraints.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Define the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to other elements of the programme.
  2. Secure the required resources, ensure SQEP maintenance, and address personnel shortfalls within the team.
  3. Develop and execute effective strategies and plans aligned with the Programme Execution Plan (PEP).
  4. Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and execute project strategies within their scope.
  5. Identify, manage, and resolve issues and risks; develop and update the programme budget; escalate issues as needed.
  6. Drive the delivery of contract activities ensuring safety, timeliness, budget adherence, and technical compliance.
  7. Coordinate with other programmes for a high-level project overview and adopt best practices.
  8. Establish and maintain effective relationships with project team members.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven track record in delivering complex projects, preferably within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environments, with high safety, security, and environmental standards.
  • Success in managing engineering design, contracts, and field execution strategies.
  • Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience managing contractors, consultants, and advisors in large, regulated construction projects, including NEC contracts.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with ability to develop and maintain networks.
  • Knowledge of project management practices, ideally with APM and Prince2 certifications.
  • Degree and chartered status in engineering, construction, physics, or related fields preferred.
