Thorn Baker Construction's client, a South West property and development organisation, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead multiple construction projects from inception to handover. This is a client-side role, working across internal teams and external consultants to deliver on time and within budget.

The successful candidate will have proven delivery experience in construction, knowledge of procurement and contracts, and strong stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Manager/Senior Project Manager in construction.
• Experience delivering projects from inception to completion.
• Strong understanding of contracts, procurement, and project controls.

Senior Project Manager - Client Side Construction

Location: Office based in Birstol and Cardiff

Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 + Package

Type: Permanent

Our client is an established property and development organisation with an expanding portfolio of construction and refurbishment projects across the South West. They are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their team and take responsibility for delivering projects from inception through to completion.

This is a client-side position, offering the opportunity to work directly for the organisation and oversee external consultants, contractors and professional teams throughout the project lifecycle.

The Role

As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple construction projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

• Managing projects from initial concept and feasibility through to completion and handover
• Acting as the client representative throughout the project lifecycle
• Appointing and managing consultants, contractors and professional teams
• Managing project budgets, programmes, procurement and risk
• Overseeing planning, design development and construction delivery
• Monitoring contractor performance and project progress
• Leading project meetings and coordinating stakeholders
• Managing variations, commercial issues and project risks
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and health & safety requirements
• Providing regular progress and financial reports to senior management
• Supporting the development and delivery of the wider property and construction programme

About You

The successful candidate will have significant experience delivering construction projects, ideally from a client-side, consultancy.

You will ideally have:

• Proven experience as a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager within construction
• Experience managing projects from inception through to completion
• Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, procurement and project controls
• Experience managing external consultants and contractors
• Strong commercial and financial awareness
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• A relevant construction, property or project management qualification
• Relevant professional accreditation such as RICS, CIOB or APM would be advantageous
