The primary responsibility for the Senior Project Manager is to secure and manage project cost, schedule, and performance in conformance with company policy, standards, and goals. The Senior Project Manager provides superior technical expertise to the customer.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the project plan, sequence, and schedule in collaboration with field personnel.
- Prepare and issue project documents including progress reports, project schedule updates, and financial/budget updates.
- Initiate periodic meetings and communication with project team members and customers to address unresolved problems and ensure coordination.
- Monitor project progress for schedule adherence and man-hour expenditures versus percent complete.
- Re-plan and make corrections/adjustments to maintain schedule; identify causes, advise customers, and negotiate changes.
- Monitor project scope for changes affecting budget and schedule; identify causes, advise customers, and negotiate changes.
- Keep customers informed of progress, technical problems, solutions, and their effects on design and costs.
- Identify solutions to problems that might impede project progress or affect customer relations, involving management as needed.
- Coordinate with Estimating department on costs and time schedules, including soliciting subcontractor quotations.
- Review plans, specifications, and reports with the Estimating department.
- Participate in contract negotiations and scope change budgeting with clients, ensuring procedures are followed.
- Review initial estimates for budget uploads and assist with the Project Performance Agreement (PPA).
- Assist with project procurement, including interviews, staff planning, and scheduling.
- Manage and develop Project Assistants and Project Engineers.
- Review safety requirements during pre-installation planning and conduct site safety inspections.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Construction Technology, Engineering, or related discipline with 7-12 years of relevant experience.
- Experience managing construction projects with contract values of $15-50 million or more.
- Experience across multiple disciplines including project management, estimating, preconstruction, and construction management.
- OSHA 10 Hour Certification; OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
- Experience in sales and marketing, including making presentations to potential clients.
- Ability to travel and work additional hours as needed to meet business goals.
