We are seeking a dynamic Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of the North London Heat and Power Project (NLHPP) and other strategic waste management initiatives. Employed by London Borough of Camden, you will be based in North London Waste Authority (NLWA), serving Camden and six other north London boroughs that make up its membership.

You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, environmentally sustainable infrastructure serving over two million residents across seven London boroughs. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant programme that prioritises community pride, social value, and environmental excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end project delivery across engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Manage quality assurance, risk, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure seamless operational transition with LondonEnergy Ltd.
  • Drive social value outcomes including apprenticeships and local employment.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of expert delivery partners.
  • Ensure compliance with public sector and environmental regulations.

About you

You’re a degree-qualified project professional with a strong track record in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects from design to operation. You understand the complexities of waste infrastructure and are confident managing safety, quality, and stakeholder relationships in a public sector environment.

You bring:

  • Experience in complex, multi-million-pound project delivery
  • Strong awareness of safety and operational integration
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Knowledge of contracts (e.g., NEC, IChemE) and project tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)
  • A collaborative, proactive approach with a focus on public value
  • Ideally, a recognised project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, PMP)

About North London Waste Authority (NLWA)

Our mission is to preserve resources and the environment for future generations by exemplary planning, innovation, and communication in managing north London’s waste.

We serve two million residents in seven boroughs and run communications and engagement campaigns to help them reduce their rubbish and recycle more. We campaign for government and industry action to reduce unnecessary single-use items, encourage reuse and repair and promote effective recycling.

To helptackle the climate emergencyandtoprevent rubbish going to landfill,we arebuilding the greenestEnergy Recovery Facilityin the country and modern recycling facilities at the Edmonton EcoPark, through theNorth London Heat and Power Project.

Working for NLWA

The post-holder will work for NLWA and be based at NLWA’s office in Tottenham Hale but be employed by London Borough of Camden through whom NLWA staff are employed. The North London Heat and Power Project is located at Edmonton EcoPark.
