Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter is seeking an experienced Digital Programme Manager to lead a portfolio of complex projects within a high-profile NHS transformation programme.

You will coordinate Digital Services, Pathology and Estates with external partners to deliver integrated digital solutions, ensuring on-time delivery, within budget and in line with clinical needs.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience managing complex projects, teams, and budgets at a senior level.
  • Strong project management expertise (PRINCE2 or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • The ability to analyse complex information and drive meaningful change in healthcare.

Why this role is exciting

Our current pathology facilities are no longer fit for modern, automated laboratory practice. This programme will deliver a state-of-the-art, purpose-built laboratory at Gadeon House in Exeter, enabling:

From 2027, Blood Sciences and Microbiology services will transition into the new facility making this programme a critical step-change in how pathology services are delivered.

As part of the Digital Services team, you will lead the delivery of a portfolio of complex digital projects that support both:



  • The construction and commissioning of the new CSL

  • The safe and effective relocation of pathology services


Responsibilities


  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across Digital Services, Pathology, Estates, and external partners

  • Plan and deliver multiple complex projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time and within budget

  • Manage risks, dependencies, and competing priorities in a high-profile programme

  • Work closely with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to deliver integrated digital solutions

  • Support service redesign and business process improvement alongside programme leads

  • Oversee supplier delivery and ensure value and quality from digital investments

  • Provide clear reporting and insights to senior stakeholders and governance forums


You will play a critical role in ensuring systems, infrastructure, and services are ready to support patients and clinicians from day one in the new facility.

  • Significant experience managing complex projects, teams, and budgets at a senior level

  • Strong project management expertise (PRINCE2 or equivalent)

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and external partners

  • The ability to analyse complex information and make informed decisions

  • A passion for improving services and delivering meaningful change in healthcare

  • Experience within the NHS or public sector is desirable.

Contract & Employment

This is a fixed term contract until 31/05/2027. For current NHS employees this post could be a secondment opportunity.


Working Pattern: 9 - 5 Mon - Fri, although will need to be flexible in line with project go timelines.
