Job summary

Wipac Technology Ltd in Buckingham is seeking a capable Programme Manager to lead and coordinate all activities to deliver projects on time, within budget and to customer requirements. You will chair customer project meetings, manage risks, budgets, and KPIs, mentor junior team members, and drive continuous improvement across the project lifecycle using established methods such as PRINCE2.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree or equivalent level in a technically based subject.
  • Relevant Project management experience as a Project Manager, ideally with some qualification e.g. PRINCE 2.
  • Excellent presentation skills and interpersonal ability.
  • Experience in automotive industry and 1st Tier suppliers is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities with a multi-disciplined team to deliver projects on time and within scope.
  • Manage project budgets with up-to-date forecast information for prototypes, tooling and margins.
  • Maintain project timing plans and liaise with suppliers and internal resources.
  • Lead customer project meetings and manage relationships to ensure satisfaction.
  • Chair internal project meetings and maintain action trackers.
  • Ensure projects comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Identify, report and escalate project risks.
  • Manage changes in project scope and engineering as per procedures.
  • Oversee pre-production builds and equipment development as required.
  • Report status and KPIs to Senior Management monthly.
  • Demonstrate leadership through quality documentation and collaboration.
  • Provide cover for other Project Managers and Engineers as needed.
  • Support improvement initiatives and tool development in project management.

Job description

Reporting to: Head of Programme Management
Main purpose:

Manage and coordinate all activities required to successfully deliver allocated Projects, ensuring that deliverables, objectives and KPI’s are achieved at the project level and that the agreed customer requirements are met.

Assist the Head of Programme Management by setting a strong, positive example to less experienced members of the Project Team, demonstrating application of both technical and soft skills to deliver projects to cost, quality and timing targets.

Key Responsibilities: Project Management:
  • Manage and coordinate all activities with a multi-disciplined team using best practice project management techniques to ensure successful delivery of allocated Projects in accordance with WIPAC’s Project Lifecycle Phase Exit Process.
  • Manage project budgets by maintaining an accurate, up to date Project Budget Worksheet, showing budget, actual and forecast information for prototypes, D&D, tooling and piece price, revenue, expenditure & margins.
  • Manage project timing and maintain an accurate, up to date project timing plan. Liaising with suppliers and internal resources to ensure good visibility of project status and highlight concerns.
  • Lead customer project meetings and visits, acting as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project and ensuring customer relationships are managed effectively to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction for current & future business.
  • Chair and minute internal project meetings, maintaining a project level open points list, with the project team as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all Projects are managed in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Identify, report and escalate project risks in line with approved business processes.
  • Ensure that Project and Series Engineering and Project Changes are managed in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Manage pre-production build phases & process equipment development in line with project requirements.
  • Report project status and KPIs to the Senior Management team at monthly project reviews.
  • Act as a role model for less experienced members of the team, demonstrating positive leadership by setting a strong example through high-quality documentation, professional conduct, effective project delivery, and strong collaboration with the project team and wider business to achieve cost, quality, and timing objectives.
  • Provide cover during periods of absence for other Project Managers and Project Engineers
  • Support the Head of Programme Management in delivering improvement projects including the development and implementation of Project Management tools, processes and standard documents.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Previous experience working within an automotive Company ideally a 1st Tier Supplier.
  • Educated to degree or equivalent level in a technically based subject.
  • Relevant Project management experience as a Project Manager, ideally with some qualification e.g. PRINCE 2
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills that enable you to work with people at all levels and develop good working relationships.
  • Problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Initiative and the ability to offer new ideas.
  • Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • Ability to mentor and coach others.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft office programmes including Project.
