An established Tier 1 main contractor is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the on-site delivery of a major commercial redevelopment in Birmingham. You will work as the number two on site to the Project Director, driving programme, quality, safety and commercial performance on a complex project.

The role requires extensive on-site leadership, with accountability for coordinating site operations, managing subcontractor packages and delivering the scheme from construction through to handover.

• Experience in commercial construction, refurbishment, redevelopment or fit-out.

An established Tier 1 main contractor is looking to appoint a high-calibre Senior Project Manager to play a pivotal role on a major commercial redevelopment in Birmingham.

This is a significant opportunity to join a high-profile project involving complex cut-and-carve works, refurbishment and high-quality commercial fit-out. Working as the number two on site to the Project Director, you will take a leading role in the day-to-day delivery of the scheme, helping drive programme, quality, safety and commercial performance across a complex construction environment.

This position would suit an ambitious Senior Project Manager who has already delivered major projects within a Tier 1 main contracting environment and is ready to take on greater responsibility on a landmark redevelopment.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Project Director, you will be instrumental in leading the site team and ensuring the successful delivery of the project from construction through to completion and handover.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the Project Director in the overall leadership and delivery of a major commercial redevelopment.
• Taking responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of site operations.
• Leading and motivating project teams, package managers and subcontractors to deliver against programme, budget and quality objectives.
• Overseeing complex cut-and-carve, structural alteration, refurbishment and commercial fit-out activities.
• Driving programme performance, identifying potential delays and implementing effective mitigation strategies.Managing interfaces between trades, subcontractors, consultants and the wider client team.Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
• Monitoring project risks, resolving technical and logistical challenges, and escalating critical issues where necessary.
• Building strong relationships with the client, consultants and supply chain.
• Supporting commissioning, quality assurance, snagging and final handover.

About You

We are looking for an experienced construction leader with the credibility, technical knowledge and organisational ability to operate at a senior level on a major project.

Essential experience:

• Proven experience working for a Tier 1 main contractor.
• A strong track record delivering major construction projects of significant scale and complexity.
• Experience in commercial construction, refurbishment, redevelopment or fit-out.
• The ability to lead large site teams and coordinate multiple subcontractor packages.
• Strong programme management, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• A thorough understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, quality assurance and health and safety.
• The confidence to act as the Project Director's right hand, taking ownership of delivery and making decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Particularly desirable:

• A background with a leading Tier 1 principal contractor.
• Previous experience on major London commercial schemes.
• Direct experience of complex cut-and-carve projects, retained structures, structural alterations and high-specification office fit-out.
• Experience operating as a Senior Project Manager, Project Lead or number two on a large project team.
