Job summary

Network Rail in London is seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Telecoms) to lead telecoms renewal projects within Works Delivery. You will provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards from concept to completion.

Join a collaborative delivery model to drive engineering excellence, support project delivery, and undertake Level 1 Engineering Assurance duties as a Designated Project Engineer or Project Engineer.

Qualifications

• Significant engineering experience in design and construction across multidisciplinary environments.
• HND (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution.
• Experience working with major contractors and delivery partners.
• Knowledge of safety case development, project assurance, safety management and quality assurance.
• Understanding of independent works assessment requirements.
• Experience supporting accident investigations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of engineering standards, systems and procedures to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality project outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance and support to Project Engineers and project teams.
• Ensure designs, construction activities and project delivery comply with legislation, industry standards and company requirements.
• Advise on construction, testing, commissioning and site supervision activities.
• Monitor compliance with project controls, environmental requirements and CDM regulations.
• Undertake risk assessments, including HAZOP analysis, to identify and mitigate project risks.
• Assure the competence of contractors and specialist personnel involved in project delivery.
• Conduct reviews and audits to ensure effective safety, quality and engineering management.
• Carry out nominated design and construction engineering duties.
• Support accident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Are you an experienced Telecoms Engineer ready to make a real impact on the future of the railway?

As a Senior Project Engineer (Telecoms) within Works Delivery, you will join a specialist team delivering Telecoms renewal projects across the Southern Region. Working as part of the Southern Renewal Enterprise (SRE), you will play a key role in a collaborative delivery model, helping to deliver safe, reliable and efficient railway infrastructure.

You will provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring compliance with legislation, Railway Group Standards and Network Rail standards throughout design and construction. Working across operational and non-operational telecoms systems, you will apply your expertise to drive engineering excellence and support project delivery from concept through to completion.

You will also undertake Level 1 Engineering Assurance responsibilities, including acting as a Designated Project Engineer (DPE) or Project Engineer (PE), while supporting delivery partners across the SRE. In addition, you will help ensure that appropriately qualified and experienced engineers are deployed effectively and that engineering risks are managed throughout the project lifecycle.

What you'll be doing

As Senior Project Engineer (Telecoms) within Works Delivery, your key responsibilities will include:
