Job summary

Placements24 is actively seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Engineer to spearhead and manage complex infrastructure projects remotely, maintaining strong governance and seamless collaboration across a distributed team. You will oversee all phases from planning to handover, ensuring scope, budget, schedule, risks, and quality drive successful outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree and Pr Eng registration with ECSA, with 10+ years in PM and engineering project

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Senior Project Engineer to lead and manage complex infrastructure projects remotely, with a strong connection to the Randburg region and its development needs. In this critical role, you will oversee all phases of project delivery, from initial planning and feasibility studies through to construction, commissioning, and handover. You will be responsible for managing project scope, budget, schedule, risks, and quality, ensuring successful outcomes and client satisfaction. This position is ideal for a seasoned engineer who excels in remote collaboration, possesses exceptional leadership capabilities, and is passionate about driving major engineering initiatives forward. You will work with a distributed team to achieve ambitious project goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and closing of diverse engineering projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, resource allocation, and detailed timelines.
• Manage project budgets meticulously, tracking expenditures and implementing cost control measures.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans as needed.
• Oversee and coordinate the work of project teams, consultants, and contractors in a remote environment.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management and engineering project delivery.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Expertise in project management methodologies and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Exceptional remote leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
